BIO
Robyn’s family knew she had been bitten by “the show biz bug,” when at age 7 she invited them all to a show in her backyard. She not only performed a one woman show, but she manned the box office, sold the tickets, served refreshments, built the stage and wrote & performed the entire show! We can still recall the brilliance of her opening line, we think it was, “Good evening lemons and jelly beans!” (She claims to have no recollection at all.) After the standing ovation and the thunderous applause by her mom, her uncles and her best friend’s family down the street, there was no turning back!
Robyn calls herself an “Artivist.” She has always been passionate about performing as well as social and global issues. Actually, the ticket sales from the above mentioned backyard extravaganza, went to the St. Jude Children’s Foundation. After the LA uprising (1992), she and her business partner Sue Kiel created a youth empowerment organization called TRIBE (True Revolution Is Becoming Educated. The kids would also add “empowered & enlightened”) This was a youth-adult partnership that taught youth about empowerment, conflict resolution & the beauty of diversity through the arts. Robyn has taught both youth and adults a variety of topics by using improvisation, and other creative mediums as tools to promote accelerated learning. Her teaching credits include acting, improvisation, creative writing, movie making, Non Violent communication & Parenting to name a few.
Robyn has performed on stage, screen & television and loves all three! Many people think they have to choose, but she believes that we live in a ”both, and universe.” So there is no need for choice, she can have it all! “How can you choose? It’s like picking a favorite ice cream and then being sanctioned to only eat that every day!” she protests. If she was held hostage and tortured and had to pick her favorite or she would never see her animals again…she would pick television. “It’s like a combination of everything” she says. “In sitcom, you are in front of a live audience (like a play) but on a screen like a movie. If you are fortunate enough to recur on a show, you get to come into their house once a week, meet them on their terms and hopefully inspire them, give them a different perspective on something or at least make them laugh! That’s magic.”
Robyn also enjoys writing screenplays with her writing partner Adam Relin. They are very excited to finish their current piece entitled “Aquitane.” They have a list of ideas that they will work on, if they can ever finish this one!
No matter what Robyn is involved with, it always has heart, passion & purpose as a main through line, because that’s the way she rolls!
